lamantyny, brzegowce (Trichechidae) - a family of aquatic placental mammals of the order Sirenia. Inha bit the coastal areas west of the Atlantic, from Florida to north ern Brazil and the Amazon and Orinoco basins. Appeared in the lat e Eocene and Oligocene in South America [1]. Can reach 4 meters in length, and its mass reaches 1 tonne. They have a rounded caudal fin, the forelimbs transformed into a vestigial fins with 2-5 dumplings.
